Another Happy Island Marriage
Once in a while everybody's happy when personalities marry real estate. Such an occurrence took place this week when Dr. Mark Sobel and his wife Mary Grace took possession of Mitchell's Sand Castles By The Sea, a life long dream! Twenty-year guests were teaching the Sobel's children how to properly hunt for seashells, with the technically correct net and sandals. I visited these happy buyers to see how they were doing and Dr. Sobel was so happy, he cried. Parents of both owners were there claiming their space, reoccurring visitors hugged and kissed the new owners.
Across the street in the family residence, Robb & Stucky's Jerry Greenwood was putting his spin on the Sanibel look. The cottages were full and the future for the property looks bright!
It seemed like it was for sale for years and that everyone that looked wanted to develop it. Posh condos waited in the wings, town fathers waited to spar! But no such luck. We go on to live happily ever after!
Actually there is a trend toward retro living. Last year we were doing the '60s, hippies, fringed handbags and turquoise jewelry. This year its '50s suits, knits, costume jewelry, homemade apple pie and the American Rag. All of this meaning to comfort us away from an uncertain terrorized world. Actually in the '50s we took cover under our desks at Catholic school while waiting to nuked by the Russians. So it really wasn't all that great!
That's why old-fashioned... beautiful seashore... puppy in tow... lifestyle on the beach in paradise is such a big win for this harried Manhattan couple. A perfect marriage! So happy to be part of it!
